Oil Change and another Harvest Host
Heading to Grand Junction, Colorado for an oil change. And hopefully they will have a tool to fix my table leg. I was twisting it in, or so I thought, yet the leg wasn’t going in. I turned the screw in so tight I couldn’t get it out! And, I will also have them check my DEF (Kirk).
The Harvest Host is My Lincoln Peach Co., a peach orchard, small yet very cute. The farmer met me and opened the little farm store. I bought some jam and salsa and walked around a bit. It was super hot and WINDY!! Most days I am grateful for Seattle’s weather that we take for granted. I asked for wine tasting recs, as driving in I noticed winery signs everywhere. He gave me suggestions and I headed to one with great reviews, Colterris. The grounds were fabulous, the servers engaging and chatty! I stayed for three hours and I joined the wine club! The area is rural and beautiful, the town is Palisades. The high altitude and winds and the million dollar breeze (apparently), produce great Cab Franc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. All the wines at Colterris are 100% estate grown, impressive! Lambert was most impressed with the cool tile floor!
Once back at the HH we enjoyed some dinner in the van and walked the orchards some more. They also had a lovely little dog run and CHICKENS! Lambert had absolutely no interest in the chickens, weirdo!

NO PLANS…
Well, I had no plans for the next night. One of the servers at Colterris suggested Rifle Falls. I wanted to get somewhere a bit cooler, she had mentioned it would likely be 15 degrees cooler there. Perfect, 75 degrees sounds like a dream right now! I booked two nights at the state park. The falls were supposedly about five miles up the road, although we didn’t see any falls. There was a nice stream running near the picnic areas and the road. My first dirt road! We stopped and had a picnic, it was a very pretty area and lots of rock climbers starting out. I’m hoping they gave up; the wind is blowing like crazy!

I got to the state park, Rifle Gap State Park. It’s so windy, which kind of makes me want to leave, but I will stay tonight, for sure. The area is gorgeous, the reservoir is a deep azure color, although it was too windy to walk, we tried going to other areas but the wind was insane! The van was rocking a lot and kind of freaked me out! Lambert thought nothing of walking in the winds. He is so particular about where he potties, each day is a lot of walking, so he can find the perfect spot. I can getting blown away and he’s just prancing along. One good thing, my hair won’t be greasy with all this dirt and wind! OMG!

I certainly got the colder weather. I decided to stay the second night and get some posts, emails and reading done. It wasn’t as windy outside either, just cold. We were sitting in the van when someone knocked on the door, obviously scaring the crap out of me! It was a cop, letting me know to unhook my water before bed because it might freeze. From 92 degrees on Tuesday to freezing on Wednesday, Geez!! I decided to go to Black Canton National Park. Booked another Harvest Host.
A couple of observations
Colorado also has storage units everywhere
Dispensaries abound!
I hate wind
How do people sit outside when it is freezing? Go inside your massive motorhome!
Be safe girl, I am a little worried about you being out and about on your own. Anything special planned for your birthday?
I am being safe! Thanks for the concern. I am heading to Dallas soon and will be visiting a girlfriend on my Birthday!
Love reading about your daily outings. Thanks for the up-dates!
Thanks Mom!!
