More options to explore!

It’s still the beginning and I want to try different types of stays. I am curious about RV parks, but so many just look like concrete parking lots! I stumbled upon one in the Umpqua National Forest, “Umpqua’s Last Resort”. It looks so cute! They have yurts and cabins along with RV spots, so I reserved a spot for two nights.

I arrived and it is even cuter in person. The hosts were very friendly and even let me move to a bigger spot, farther away from the highway. The cabins were all different, they also had some retro RV’s people could rent. The area was grassy with lots of trees and vegetation. It butted up to the forest so Lambert and I could walk some trails. The ‘resort’ was wonderful!

The host had recommended two waterfall hikes, so the next day we set out. Watson Waterfall was our first hike, it was beautiful. A 350 foot waterfall, easily viewed and easy an easy hike. In and out was about a mile. We didn’t make it all the way to the top because you had to go up wet slippery rocks and no one else on the hike, so I decided not to go the last little bit up.

Tokepee is Umpqua’s ‘poster child’ waterfall, not nearly as impressive, and that hike was crowded. We stopped at the little store on our way back for some snacks! I am still trying to figure out what is easy to cook. I am not the best eater, so it’s a bit of a challenge!

This is our sleeping arrangements. It is pretty comfy, Lambert likes it!

Heading to visit my uncle Zip and Aunt Karen in Medford. Looking forward to being city bound!

Watson Falls

This is a water pipe. It is massive, 12′ in diameter. It os called the Toketee Project, part of the North Umpqua Hydroelectric Project, completed in Dec 1949! It is built of Redwood, as you can hopefully see, if there is a lwaj, they plug it with a piece of wood. It is quite amazing, though I wondered, wjat happens if it blows? Want to learn more?
