Off to Yosemite National Park
The van adventure continues! I am still excited about the solo van travel. There are so many great places to travel in the USA. It is only day 12; some days it feels longer, but the amount I learn each day reminds me that it’s just begun! Heading to Yosemite!
I booked 3 nights at a Thousand Trails by Yosemite Lakes. Today will be a long drive to the park, but there are usually great sights along the way. Lake Tulloch was one of them. An amazing area with gorgeous homes on the lake! This one’s for sale if you’re interested! As we began the climb up the mountain it became a bit more nerve racking, white knuckle nerve wracking! This is when I wish Lambert could drive, or at least talk.
The park was nice because it was more woodsy, though because of that, it wasn’t too clean. There was only one bathroom and it was far away, no dog areas and no WiFi. I believe that is becoming an important amenity. I purchased a membership prior to arriving and cancelled it after we left. After looking into the locations, I realized there weren’t many in the areas I was interested in visiting.
Rain was coming down when we arrived, so we made the best of the van and the DVD player! We watched Madagascar and The Incredibles.
Day Two
The next day we drove to the park. Entering was beautiful, it was snowy and sunny! Driving into the park was serene, though some of the driving was a bit scary, curvy and steep! I knew going into this adventure that most National Parks only allow dogs in paved areas. We had fun stopping at viewing areas and walking around the visitor center area. There was a really cool old cemetery too! Saw the falls and El Capitan.
We headed back to camp to eat, which has been difficult!! I made some rice and veggies. When I left I emptied out the food from the fridge and pantry to take with me, but it’s not really the right kind of food. I am trying to use it up though! I see meat and cheese in the near future. We also enjoyed a fire, so that was fun!
Last Day at Yosemite
The next day we went to a small town near us, Groveland, it was rally cute, but not dog friendly. I spent some time in a park trying to get wifi and plan our next stop. We did a lot of walking, nothing too exciting, but a good day. I am unsure how much Lambert is enjoying van life. He is exhausted by the end of the day and so am I!
Tomorrow we head to a Harvest Host for two nights, after that I think it’s hotel time!
Okay! I’m laughing because at the end of this adventure I’m sure Lambert will be speaking! I loved reading about all the little nuances that you are facing and dealing with like a Trojan… if that’s even a compliment l. Lol. It’s meant to be. I’m looking forward to following more of your journey. Hope to cross paths when we can!
Thanks Christine! I am hoping we cross paths soon too!
