Time to RELAX!
Just for reference it is May 3rd!
After leaving Bakersfield I set out for Orange Grove RV Park. I booked three nights here, still trying to slow down. The park was really cute, the weather was nice and it was fun to set up a cute outdoor area! There are train tracks near by, this seems to be a theme with RV parks! Lambert enjoys the dog parks that most RV parks have and today he got to play with another doggie! He loves that too!
The next day we had an easy day. We took a walk to a little country store and walk through orange groves, it was a lovely morning. Then I reorganized cupboards, again, I think this is going to be an ongoing project! We made a run to Walmart ‘Neighborhood Market’, translates to groceries only, which was all I needed anyway! It was shocking to me how many homes were around this area, and nice neighborhoods, but this is the ONLY grocery store and it is a Sunday, so the place was packed! I needed Zyrtec and they had to unlock it for me and then keep it at the counter, AND since I needed that I was not able to self check out. I was in line for 15 minutes! Oh well, another lesson learned.
We walked around the orange trees again. You could pick the oranges too, but most were too high for me to reach. As we walked a dog came running out oh his camper and tried to attack Lambert, I was freaking out! The dog rolled on the ground a bit before the owner got his DUMB ASS dog (or maybe a DUMB ASS owner)! Lambert was skeptical of dogs for a few days, so that was sad.
Day two and three of relaxation!
Monday morning the manager of Camping World Fres-no calls to ask why the bad review. I guess he hasn’t talked to Bakersfield or checked his email from the help hotline. I explain to him what happened, a little perturbed that he calls before he looks into the siytuation. He tells me he will call Bakersfield and get back to me. GUESS WHAT? Never heard from him again!
Lambert and I had an exploring day planned, Silver City Ghost Town and Lake Isabel. The ghost town was really cool. All the buildings were from the area and were moved there during the 60’s and 70’s. It was fun to walk through and read the history of each building. Then we headed to Lake Isabella, I was imagining a nice lunch on a patio overlooking a lake, nope. It was a bust, but it was hot and I didn’t want to go right back to the park, so I saw a sign for Lake Ming and we followed it. We ended up at a cute park and found a tree to sit under and relax with a snack. Lambert decided to roll in goose poop, so that was lovely!
Also the first time I used the outdoor shower
and he HATED it!!
Time to head out!
There will be no sight seeing in Nevada. I drove by Las Vegas, with the strip being on the other side of me, so I was kind of behind LV. It was so yucky. I think I’m good if I never go back there!
Lambert seems to agree, he does not want to potty on gravel, sand or dust! I need trees!!! The desert is pretty but it’s so never-ending. It’s also WINDY and the speed limit is 80mph, both of those are scary in the van! I am seeing a lot of beautiful places, but I have to say, the PNW is still at the top of my list! Give me the rain, trees and green any day!
Our Harvest Host, Artesian Cellars, was in Pahrump NV, a wine tasting room parking lot. We sat on the patio for a while and then headed in for a tasting and some food. The hosts were very nice, but…. we are so spoiled in WA. The wine was not my favorite, though I did buy a bottle! We needed to get to sleep, tomorrow will be a six hour drive to Capitol Reef National Park in Utah.
Enjoyed hearing of what you were going through. Sounds like there’s a new surprise every day!
There sure is!
loved your comment PNW is the best…I am with you….I take rain, trees and do miss the green…but I like my new lifestyle in AZ
I am glad you’re enjoying the desert! Sorry I didn’t make it to AZ!
